Dress Code Policy

UNIFORM POLICY 26-27

Introduction & Purpose

Scholars must wear their complete uniforms every school day unless otherwise stated by the teacher or the administration. They will also dress in uniform for all school programs and field trips unless otherwise specified. 

 

Uniform Requirements:

 

Elementary School (grades K – 4th) - green SFA polo shirt/dashiki (school colored kelli green) with black khaki/uniform pants/skirts that are knee length, black belt, black shoes or majority black sneakers. NO TIGHTS, YOGA PANTS, FLARE PANTS, OR ANY FORM FITTED PANTS ARE ALLOWED AT ANY POINT!! Students are allowed to wear open black sweaters or cardigans over their uniform and are permitted to wear long sleeve shirts under their dashikis or polo shirts. Jackets or hoodies are not permitted to be worn in the building. All elementary students will have phys ed twice a week and can wear the Sankofa Phys ed shirts and all black sweat pants and black sneakers on the days they have Phys Ed. 

 

Middle School (grades 5th -8th) -  red SFA polo shirt/dashiki (school colored  red) with black khaki/uniform pants or skirts that are knee length, black belt, black shoes or majority black sneakers. NO TIGHTS, YOGA PANTS, FLARE PANTS, OR ANY FORM FITTED PANTS ARE ALLOWED AT ANY POINT!! Students are allowed to wear open black sweaters or cardigans over their uniform and are permitted to wear long sleeve shirts under their dashikis or polo shirts. Jackets or hoodies are not permitted to be worn in the building. When Middle School students have Phys Ed they have the  option to wear the Sankofa Phys Ed shirts with all black sweat pants and majority black sneakers.

 

9th-12 Uniform Policy:

Sankofa scholars proudly wear school uniforms according to our dress code.  Dress code will be strictly enforced this year and we appreciate your attention to detail before you send your child to school. 

 

9th and 10th grade: ANY color shoes or sneakers (NO CROCS OF ANY KIND), black khaki/uniform pants or skirts that are knee length, black belt.  NO TIGHTS, YOGA PANTS, FLARE PANTS, OR ANY FORM FITTED PANTS ARE ALLOWED AT ANY POINT!! 9th/10th grade students may wear black  Sankofa polo shirts with logo or any color dashiki. Students are allowed to wear open black sweaters or cardigans over their uniform and are permitted to wear long sleeve shirts under their dashikis or polo shirts. Jackets or hoodies are not permitted to be worn in the building

 

11th and 12th grade Only:  ANY color shoes or sneakers ((NO CROCS OF ANY KIND), ALL black khaki/uniform pants or skirts that are knee length, black belt.  NO TIGHTS, YOGA PANTS, FLARE PANTS, OR ANY FORM FITTED PANTS ARE ALLOWED AT ANY POINT!! 11th/12th grade students may wear  any color dashiki or a purple Sankofa polo shirts with the logo and  (solid black cardigan optional).  

 

All students must come to school in full uniform. Students are not allowed to change into their uniforms upon arrival. 

Uniform Violation Policy:

Violations of the uniform policy will result in the following: 

Parents will be contacted to bring the scholar a proper uniform or give permission for a student to wear a  borrowed uniform (if available).

All students who are out of uniform will be sent to the Dean’s Office until a parent/guardian is contacted.

Repeated violations may result in further disciplinary action.
